Lexical entries in turn are defined as ordered triples, consisting of a phonological, a categorial and a semantic component, in that order. The first element will be called the "phonological projection" of the lexical entry, the second element will be the "categorial projection", and the third element the "semantic projection". In short hand: if L is a lexical entry, then πp (L) will be its phonological projection, πc (L) its categorial projection and πs (L) its semantic projection. In a formula: (1) For every lexical entry L: L = 〈πp (L); πc (L); πs (L)〉.
