According to the theory, each [representation] is an ordered set of items found in the lexicon - the syntactic, morphological, and phonological representations are ordered sets of various words, morphemes, and phonemes, respectively. One way to immagine the representation at a particular level is as a collection of order tags that are attached to nodes in the lexical network, dictating the contents of the representation and their order. The processing assumption of the theory tells how these order tags are handed out.
