The errors that the simulation made can be placed in two categories, those in which the error does not change the number of segments (substitutions) and those in which the error does (nonsubstitutions). The former category includes anticipations, perseverations, and exchanges. The latter category is made up of deletions, anticipatory and perseveratory additions, and shifts.
