Following Hudson [Hudson R., 1997. Word Grammar Encyclopedia. ftp://pitch.phon.ucl.ac.uk/pub/Word-Grammar/], we allow inflected words to inherit from two higher categories, or "models": one for the lexeme and the other for the inflection. To the extent that these models are disjoint, this is an instance of orthogonal multiple inheritance [...] and no conflicts will arise. The lexeme is responsible for the stem (and in some cases for the selection of characteristics which determine aspects of the inflected form) and the inflection provides the details of the whole of the inflected word.
