Bradley [...] and Lyons [...] propose two quite different kinds of unit: one kind is a unit that actually forms part of the speech chain; the second kind is more abstract and does not participate in this process. Bradley calls this second a "name"[...], Lyons a "lexeme", where all forms of, say, "sing", fall under the name "sing".
