Soliloquy, which is pure expression, is normally frowned upon as unsocial behaviour, and those who want to ‘express’ themselves, will have to cheat and procure a victim with whom they can sham communication. This explains why linguistic evolution is entirely determined by the communicative needs of man: soliloquy, if it were no aping communication, would soon result in the annihilation of language.
