We have already seen that the grammatical gender is a feature which is generally lacking in pidgins and creoles. By grammatical gender Markey [Markey, T. L. 1982. “Afrikaans: Creole or Non-Creole?”, Zeitschrift für Dialektologie und Linguistik IL: pp. 169-207.] means the lack of inflectional gender marking or classifiers such is found, for example, in German, where all nouns fall into one of three gender classes: masculine, feminine or neuter.
