[…] pidgins usually display a fixed and invariable word order. In Haiman’s [Haiman, J. 1985. Natural Syntax. Iconicity and Erosion, Cambridge, Cambridge University Press] terms, they avoid allotaxy, ie the use of different word orders for the expression of the same grammatical relationships.
