The speech sound 'wh' has a large number of associations with other sounds in symbolically significant sound-groups, e.g. 'wh-e-n', 'wh-i-s-k-e-y', 'wh-ee-l'. The candle-blowing sound has no sound associations with which it habitually coheres.
