In our approach we will give a unified account of Subject assignment and Object assignment. The latter will be used to capture such oppositions as between: (2) a. John (AgSubj) gave the book (GoObj) to Peter (Rec) b. John (AgSubj) gave Peter (RecObj) the book (Go) We shall interpret Obj assignment as defining a secondary “vantage point”, once the primary vantage point has been fixed through Subj assignment.
