‘Source’, ‘Path’, and ‘Direction’ designate the point of origin, the orientation, and the terminal point of a movement:
(45) Source ------------------------------> Direction
Path
(46) John drove ‘from Amsterdam’ (Source) ‘to Rotterdam’ (Direction) ‘along the highway’ (Path)
Several refinements of these spatial orientation functions are required. For example, Direction may be distinguished in movement “towards” some point (in the direction of that point, without suggestion that the point is actually reached) or “to” a point (with the suggestion that it is reached). - Dik (1989), a pag.197
