Perhaps we should add to (73) [(73) *[γ...δ...], where γ and δ bear the same index] the condition (i): (i) unless δ is coindexed with the head of γ. This unless-condition will accomodate relative clauses, permitting percolation of an index to the NP head of a relative clause.
