In a traditional grammar, a particular occurrence of a Noun would be described in terms of its place in a system of paradigms defined by certain inflectional categories, namely the categories of gender, number, case, and declensional type. Each of these categories constitutes an independent "dimension" of the paradigm, and each word has a particular "value" along each of these independent dimensions.
