[…] borrowing is the use of a foreign word in a native utterance, in a situation in which that word would be used in the foreign language. The only uses of the word which are directly equivalent in both languages are those occurring in the situations in which the borrowing takes place (in which the native speaker is constructing an analogy to the foreign utterance).
