We will refer to the members of a pair of related clauses, in paratactic or hypotactic relation, as PRIMARY and SECONDARY. The primary is the initiating clause in a paratactic structure, and the dominant clause in hypotactic; the secondary is the continuing clause in a paratactic structure and the dependent clause in a hypotactic.
