A metonymic mapping occurs within a single conceptual domain, which is structured by an ICM. Given two elements, A and B, in the ICM, A may “stand for” B. The “stands-for” relation is represented structurally by a SOURCE-PATH-GOAL schema. If B is a category and A is a member, or subcategory, of B, the result is a metonymic category structure, in which A is a metonymic prototype. - Lakoff (1987), a pag.288
